الزمن الماضي البسيط
THE PAST SIMPE TENSE
It is used to express an action or actions happened and ended in the past.
يعبر عن حدث أو أحداث حصلت وانتهت في الماضي.
القاعدة في حالة الإثبات THE RULE: positive
Subject +past form of the verb……………الفاعل + الصيغة الماضية للفعل
Examples:
1. I went to school yesterday.
2. The pupils met the president two days ago.
3. Yemen united in 1990.
4. It rained last night.

الكلمات التالية تدل على هذا الزمن:
Last, in 1990, ago, yesterday etc.

في حالة ألاستفهامInterrogative
Did+ subject + main verb………………, e.g.:
1.Did I go to school yesterday?
2.Did the pupils meet the president two days ago?
3.Did Yemen unite in 19990?
4. did it rain last night?

لاحظ أن الأفعال التي تحتها خط قد عادت إلى مصدرها في حالة الاستفهام وستراها كذلك في حالة النفي.

القاعدة في حالة النفي THE RULE: negative
Subject + did + not + main verb………, e.g.:
1. I did not go to school.
2. The pupils did not meet the president two days ago.
3. It did not rain last night.

Put the following verbs in the past simple tense:
1. Ali goes to school everyday.
2. The pupils learn Arabic daily.
3. Salwa watches TV at night.
Change all the verbs in the past tense:

Saeed is born in Mukalla in 1867. Salem is born in Sana'a in 1871. Neither boy graduate from high school, but mechanical things fascinate the young Salem. They teach themselves math and engineering. In 1891, the brothers open a shop in Sana'a where they design and build cars.
The brothers become interested in making cars. . The brothers decide to build a car machine. They also are determined to learn how to control driving safely.

CORECCET THE VERBS BETWEEN THE BRACKETS:
